The graveside service is a ceremony done right at the burial place. This ritual can be performed alone or as part of a typical funeral service. Its primary focus is on the final few minutes before the body is interred, letting loved ones come together and say their final goodbyes in a meaningful and solemn environment.

Typical Order of Events

  • Arrival: Guests gather at the gravesite where the casket or urn is already in place.

  • Opening: A member of the clergy or funeral director provides a welcome and opening prayer/scripture.

  • Tributes: One or two brief eulogies, readings, are delivered.

  • Committal/Final Farewell: A final prayer or blessing is offered (committal), often followed by attendees placing flowers or a handful of earth on the casket.

Cost, Planning and Location

  • Cost: Generally less expensive than a traditional funeral because they avoid expenses like chapel rental, limousine services, and elaborate floral arrangements.

  • Planning: Requires coordination with cemetery staff for a suitable time.

  • Location: Can be at a graveside, mausoleum, or for the burial of urns (columbarium).

Common Elements

  • Committal/Final Farewell: A final prayer or symbolic act.

Estimate: $2,500 - $5,500*

A memorial service serves as a flexible and personalized gathering held after a cremation or burial to honor a loved one, often functioning as a "celebration of life." Unlike a traditional funeral, the body is not present, which allows the service to be held weeks or months later at a variety of locations, such as a park or a community hall.

Key Aspects of a Memorial Service

  • Purpose: To celebrate the joy the deceased brought, share memories, and provide comfort to attendees.

  • Timing: Highly flexible; can take place days, weeks, or months after the death.

  • Location: Can be held anywhere meaningful, including funeral homes, churches, parks, or community centers.

  • Elements: Features a photo slideshow or video tribute, music, eulogies, and a display of personal items or the urn.

  • Personalization: Often reflects the deceased's hobbies

Our efforts are guided entirely by your specific needs and preferences.

Common Elements

  • Final Farewell: A final prayer or symbolic act, such as releasing lanterns or balloons.

Estimate: $2,500 - $4,500*
